The “Parranda” is one of the biggest and most ancient traditional festivals of Caribbean. The most famous and the most spectacular out of these festivals is the one celebrated in the city of Remedios, in the province of Santa Clara in Cuba. The festivities start on December 16th and last until the 26th, but the festival-s main events take place on the night between the 25th and the 26th. The tolling of the church bells at 9 o’clock pm start the festivities. The two neighborhoods of Remedios, San Salvador and El Carmen, parade in the square, where preparations of whole year come to life. Lighted floats, dancing and fireworks go on all through the night up to the morning of the 25th of December.
